In two short months, Frank Wood, 57, candidate for the Florida House of Representatives, collected the petition cards needed to certify his name on the ballot.
"Our volunteers and supporters amazed me with their energy and can-do enthusiasm," Wood said. "I am deeply grateful."
This means Wood will be the first candidate qualifying for House Seat 25, covering the Golden Triangle, Central Lake County, and parts of Volusia and Seminole.
"He's the first one who turned in all his petitions," said Cecelia Canady of the Lake County elections office. "He did rather well."
Wood, an economics teacher, a former Lake County Teacher of the Year and holder of the prestigious National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification, has been urged for years to run for the legislative seat. read more ...
Countdown until election day — November 2, 2010:

Even with sudden inclement weather, the room quickly filled as friends and supporters discussed real issues and shared ideas on how to build a better future.
We took a significant step forward in meeting our goal to raise the necessary funds to get our message out. In addition, I met many new supporters and made new friends in that crowded room.
If you couldn't make this event, not to worry. In the coming months we are planning a series of "meet-and-greet" events around District 25. I am certain we'll run across each other sooner or later.” Frank Wood — photos

“This old economics teacher is grateful for the support of so many citizens. Many good folks are coming out and supporting our campaign for improving schools, reforming taxes, preserving natural resources and protecting our drinking water. We’re the underdog ... but, I’ve got you ... and we’ve got momentum!”
